Glimpses of this last week

Christmas is fast approaching.  Friends and family in Australia have already opened Santa gifts and are planning meals with some white wine.   We are waiting not very patiently in this house.   It's been a week of date nights,  wrecked knees (again),  playdates with friends, belated birthday celebrations,   Alvin and the Chipmunk movie treat by the neighbours grandma,   winter lights,  eating,  decorating gingerbread houses,   games,  crying ,  and lots of begging to open up pressies!    It has been busy.
The last picture does my head in.   I had it all set up on a bench and then at the last minute the camera moved so it is blurry and I so wanted to redo it but the kids wanted to run and explore.   So I will just have to make due with my blurry memory photo.   Merry Christmas everyone.

A Thing for Cows

I've come to the conclusion I am drawn to cows more then anything when I'm out building my agriculture portfolio (and tractors too!!)   Could it be growing up on a beef farm that I'm more drawn to them,    or could it be that it is just easier to find cows in Kamloops then other animals?   I think it is time to add some different areas to my 2012 animal hunt.   Maybe the chicken barn here in town.   Out with some ranchers on their horses.  Sheep....... oh sheep they just frustrate me to no end.     But they could be a big goal to accomplish next year.     Here's to asking around and planning for next year.    Only after a make it through Christmas and two outstanding jobs.

Christmas Decorating

The Christmas Tree has been up since last weekends cutting down adventure.   We just hadn't put any decorations on it as we weren't sure what our new cat would do with it.   Well Murphy pretty much ignored it.   So Owen slowly keep adding decorations on it.   We had wanted to wait until Grandmas and Grandad got here.   But......  After Owen's pleading to add more decorations,   no interest from the cat in any of it,    and some holiday decorating shows  (which remind me never to watch next year)  I headed to Canadian Tire were decorations were already half off and picked up loads more decorations.     (I'm still thinking sparkly pink and purple would be nice!-  must resist!!!)    So it's as done as it is going to get unless I head to Canadian Tire one more time.    (Because we do need more mini light replacement bulbs and well........)

Winter around Kamloops

Just some winter photos of places I have been driving by these past two weeks.   Things just catch my eye and I have been so lucky lately to be able to stop without someone complaining that they don't want to.

Christmas Tree Hunt

Saturday morning found us planning a Christmas Tree hunt.    But first we had to stop for hot dogs and other snacks to enjoy over a fire while ice fishing on Isobel Lake.   After a few hours with no bites and some cold kids we then packed up and drove a little further past Pass Lake and found our trees.    Maybe the Christmas decorating bug will hit me now.

Skiing in Vernon

We got invited to go with good friends and their extended family to Silver Star Ski  http://winter.skisilverstar.com/  resort in Vernon.  So we headed out Friday night to go to Vernon, BC.   Things didn't start out so well.  Eric's work truck broke down so he was stuck at work an hour past when he was suppose to come home!!!  I had to go pick him up so we headed out much later then planned.  Then as we were almost into Vernon we got pulled over at a ride program and Eric and his big mouth said oh I'm driving without a renewed license!!!    We eventually got to the ski resort and had a good laugh and visit with everyone before we had to get the kids into bed for an early start.    The kids had never skied before so we got them beginner lesson.  They did so well and Ciara wanted to go with dad in the afternoon.   We were all so tired after skiing but while dinner was being made  (we had breakfast duty)   we took out kids (there were 8 kids total)  and heading into the village for hot chocolate,  face painting and some tubing!!!     We had a great night playing games while the kids crashed and then were up and out Sunday with a finishing skate on the pond.   All in all a fun weekend.

Catching a quiet moment

Hannah has been very hard to understand right now.   She's all over the map,  lonely,  driving herself too hard,  missing a best friend,   tears are daily,   smiles and calmness few.   Not gone,  I do see them occasionally.   When I do I hope that things will get better.   An adult  views her as unique,  with a dry whit,   and they get her.   But kids...... she's just that much more honest,  blunt,  open,   a say it how it is kid.   They don't get her here.   I struggle daily at what to do to see my Hannah be back to that kid I never worried about.   Now my heart breaks daily.  My anger at the tears she can't seem to control or holds in all day and lets loose once she sees me after school.

When did this Diva emerge?

He's taken to sleeping with this on every night???   Don't know where he got the idea or where he got the mask?
