#11 of Faces Challenge

This is Katie and her partner Keane again.   Plus their dog Asher.  (Asher is just loved by my kids)  Katie does quite a bit for the BC 4WD club.
She also works two jobs in Prince George.  In a nursing home and a job dealing with challenged members of the community.   Very interesting lady.

#10 of Faces Challenge

This is Keane.  He is one of the organizers of the 4WD May Long Weekend we went on.   Very friendly guy.   Had to work during the weekend so he was back and forth a bit from Prince George to just outside of Quesnell.   He did a lot of work before we got out there setting up stuff with his wife and other club members.   Check out the club website at offroad.bc.ca

#9 of Face Challenge

This is Dave.   He was sitting down town on his own chair enjoying the sun during Market day.     He had this cool motorized cart that he had with him.  Owen was quite impressed when Dave made the wheels go round.   He likes the sun and people watching.  (said I was too pale)    I suspect there was more then coffee in this cup because when I asked to take his photo he wanted to know if it could be a nude photo!!!!  Very amusing guy.

#7 of Faces Challenge

I was walking to the school and Wylie here and his friend Wayne were sitting on the front lawn drinking Rum and Cokes enjoying the beautifully warm weather.   They were more worried they would be on the most wanted lists then having their photo taken.   ( I think they were enjoying their rum's and Coke's)
You'll see Wylie's partner in crime tomorrow.

#6 of Faces Challenge

Okay I won't go into much detail on who this lovely couple is.  I was out walking and asked them if I could take a photo explained I was taking photography wanted to challenge myself.  They agreed to a photo but as I was walking away they asked if this was going to be on facebook.   No?!
So if this is going to be a problem to anyone let me know and I will take the photo off.

May Long Weekend

So the May 24 weekend.   In Canada we call it the 2 4 weekend after a case of beer which has 24 cans in it.   First holiday of the summer.  Though it usually rains and is cold the whole weekend.  This was the first weekend I have been that it was very nice.   So we drove to Quesnel, BC (4 hours) and then another 1hour in on off road roads.

So we traveled in about 20km an hour.   Got in to a very pretty little spot.   Our car is very under dressed compared to the others.  Eric looked at some of the trails and very quickly realized we weren't going to be doing them!!  He went off with some of the other guys to get a taste of the adventure.   The kids had lots of kids to play with. (about 9 were counted)  They got very dirty and feral.  But had a good time.  The bugs weren't bad as well.  I think I was out of my depth.   This 4WDing isn't my cup of tea (about 4 to 6 of the vehicles got injured and towed out which I don't think I would be happy with!!) but we got to explore some more of BC and the kids did love just running around exploring and playing with all the kids and dogs!!
Tomorrow back at the 100 faces challenge.

Field Trip

Friday I went with Hannah's grade one class to Lake Isobel in Kamloops.    Very cool day.   Every type of weather.   When we were getting on the bus to go home it was snowing!!!

#5 of People Project

When we were at Lac Le Jeune we came across this couple from Abbotsford, British Columbia.    They had come camping and for the start of fishing season.  Which opened last Friday.   I didn't catch this ladies name as she had a very strong either Ukrainian or German accent.   She got out of her boat and showed the kids her catch even though in her words they were too small.   So we asked for a photo and she was more then willing while letting the kids touch and see the fish.

Now we are off on our camping adventure after school today and a big field trip that I'm a parent helper for.   So we will be away for a few days and I will post when we return.   We are going with a 4WD club so I'm sure there will be many people I can photograph.   Especially when they are going through mud and wild roads.   They are all addicted to seeing the wild stuff they put their vehicles through!!!
Till then have a good May 24 long weekend to my Canadian friends and a good mid term break to my Aussie friends and a good weekend to my relatives in the UK and the States.

#4 of People Project

This is Wade.   He sits at Riverside Park almost everyday he says in the summer weaving these beautiful hemp necklaces.   He even fires the clay beads he uses himself.  His favourite colour is orange and Owen just happened to be wearing orange this day as well.   So if you are down at the park check them out.   1 for $10 or 3 for $20  and if they break he will repair them for free.

#3 of People Project

This is Myra and Denny.   Myra was visiting Denny from Alberta.   Denny is originally from Quebec and has a great French Canadian accent.   These two were sitting at Riverside Park on a bench just saying hi to everyone.   They are having a long distance romance so this was a week together.   Myra is interested in photography too.  So she took my photo and I took hers.   Now I just have to get this mailed to her.

#2 of 100 people

This is Christine and her sons Calder and Nathan.   Now with this project they said you may make a new friend out of this.   Christine was a stranger to me a few months ago but now she's a close friend.   We met at a Mother Goose Program and I over heard her say she had just moved to Kamloops.   So that interested me.   Then I bumped into her again a few weeks later at Riverside Park.  I went up to her and started talking.   She was rather shocked that I remembered her from such a brief meeting.  I found out we moved to Kamloops the same time in October.   Now we live about a 10 minute walk from each other in Barnhartvale.   I invited the whole family over for a party we had and needless to say now we see each other at least once a week so the boys.  Which are 2, 3 and 4.  Can play with each other.  Eric has had her husband Spencer over for some manly move things around the yard activities followed by beer.
So I have made a friend out of this project of going up to strangers and talking to them.   (though I didn't ask for her photo right off the bat!)

This going up to people is hard.   Today walking home from school.  I saw 2 great photos ops but I was too cautious to ask.   One was some tree cutters and the other the city and sewage company stopping with about 4 trucks and great facial character men coming out of them.    But the guys were up the trees cutting and the foremen of the city crew hopped out and started yelling that they were a half hour behind.   So how do you just go up to very interesting people that are super busy and ask to take their photo and find out their name.   I guess I could have waited until things had settled but I didn't.
Well maybe after 30 people this will get easier.  So far I have just asked 6!!!

100 People Project Challenge

Okay the Challenge to go around to people I don't know and ask them if I can take their photo.   My Challenge is 100 people and hopefully this will get me over being nervous about this whole new stage of my life.   This was my first attempt and it isn't what I was hoping for.   I'm trying to get more creative in my photos.   I took this photo as I was walking with Owen to the car.   Washing windows with this long brush just screamed take a photo.   I asked Norman if he would mind and he didn't as long as he could keep doing his job.     So I couldn't get him to look at me and I couldn't get under him for fear of getting wet or in his way.    This is as good as it gets.   The next few days will be better and I'll only post on photo.

Lac Le Jeune

It was a very warm weekend.   Over 25 degrees both days.    So after all our prep jobs for next weeks long weekend camping 4WDing adventure.   We all heading out to Lac Le Jeune National Park to get a taste of what Canadian camping is again.   We didn't camp just went out and enjoyed the beauty.
Tomorrow I start my personal challenge project.  So look out for it.  It has been a hard challenge for me and it will be a long one.  Hopefully by the end it will be easy and my confidence will be found.

Maple Leaves

Just a little taste of why the maple leaf is so well known to Canada.   Maple trees,  Maple trees everywhere.    Though I'm not 100% sure the red one is a Maple tree.
I'm also so excited that I finally have figured out North American light again!!!
I'm off for a whole day of scrapbooking.    Yeah!!  No kids,  daddy taking them to a birthday party where he stays.   Oh life is good.

Magical Light

They say you don't get good light at mid day and that's true.   But Riverside Park with it's big trees just letting in a little light was so perfect today.   I could have stayed longer taking pictures of these magical toad stools that just speak look longer a Fairy is going to peak out.     The only trouble is I have a three year old that wanted to go running towards the play ground.

Farm Land

I miss open land.  Farm land.   Took this while the kids were biking at a park.    So close to town and no one really looks at it.

End of the day shot

Trying to get some me time away from the kids.   So packed up the camera stuff and headed out some back roads while Eric put the kids to bed.    Have to try this again some evening.
I have an idea for another photo project.  I think I'll start it Monday.  Look out for it.

Just a little pretty for your morning

The fruit blossoms are still blooming around our house and Owen loves playing around them.

Z is for Ziwat

This is Ziwat my friends Mexican Hairless Dog.   They named him Ziwat after a town in Mexico.   He does many many tricks.   Like High Five, twirl, shake a paw, bowing, and few others I can't remember.  The kids think he is so neat.

X is for Xanithippe

Xanithippe is an ill tempered woman.   That is exactly what I was when Eric snapped this.  Owen had just thrown his boots into the bottom of the fish pond and the girls had asked for the thousandth time if they could have a snack and it was 6pm dinner time!!   So after fishing the boots off the bottom of the pond and saying no one more time.  Eric came home and then remembered my X word and snapped away for me.

V is for Violet Lilacs

My absolute favourite flower.  A lilac they don't last long in spring or when picked but they smell awesome.

U is for Umbrella

It was raining yesterday so I dragged the kids out to get an umbrella shot.   But I couldn't pick my favourite.   Though I am favouring the bottom right one of Owen.

T is for Toilet

Yes an exciting photo.   But this became well known this morning at 3:30am when Hannah began using it.   She didn't go back to bed and school was not an option this morning.    So if we had gone to school then my camera would have found some other exciting "T" word but alas we are laying low.  Good thing it is pouring rain as well so maybe it still would be a toilet shot as Owen is showing some interest in performing on that white thing!!!  Ciara was extremely tired  this morning and I couldn't wake her so just encase this isn't just a one child thing she is having a low day too.     Hoping they all have a quiet movie moment after lunch and I nanny nod on the couch with them!!!

S is for Strom's

So the Strom's eating pancakes on a Sunday morning.   This also is a family photo that I have put on my list of things to accomplish every month.   Has happened yet.   But every other month!!

R is for Reading

I got her hooked on "The Littles" books by John Peterson.  I read them at about her age and I loved looking at the pictures of the little people living in the walls and using pencils to make beds and getting peanut butter in a bottle cap.  Memories....
